WHEN SILC BOOSTS MEMBERS PRODUCTIVE ASSETS BASE (KAZA ROHO SILC GROUP SUCCESS STORY)

                                   Â                            Members of Kaza Roho group are all smiles as they receive animals bought with funds from fuguza Umaskinini, so far group members have bought 200 chicken 30 goats 50 sheep and 15  cows all valued at  kshs 1.2m of which 35 OVC re benefiting.                                              Â

Kaza Roho SILC group draws its members from Ulamba village, west  Gem Ward, Gem Sub County of Siaya , It was formed  in November 2020 with a membership of 25 Caregivers (8M,15F) , who were trained on savings and guided by the trainer  till December 2021, when they shared out a total of 197,000 kshs where the highest saver received savings plus loan interest  of 10,475/= and the lowest 1,480/=.the following year (2022)they shared out ksh 209,550 of which the highest received  kshs 14,475 and lowest got 480/=,the highest used the money to boast the shop  business from the operating  capital of kshs 5,400 to kshs 12,540 and currently the business stock stands at kshs 15,000.

6 caregivers have so far registered improvements in their businesses ranging from fish hawking to vegetable farming, so far the improvements in  their businesses  is attributed to increased  savings and loaning at the SILC group.

In 2021 they initiated an innovative product which they referred to as  Fuguza Umaskinini where they saved money every week aimed at purchasing items most lucking in their households .In the first time  they saved kshs 59,400 for house hold items and productive assets =.

In 2022 Fuguza Umaskinini cash was kshs 84,200.the and  16 caregivers  bought productive asset (5 goats, 5 sheep, 5 chickens and 1 cow) which was  worth kshs 80,000

In 2023 the Fuguza Umaskinini kshs money was 65,745 6 caregivers bought productive (3 goats, 2 cows and 2 goats and 3 chickens) which is worth ksh 60,000.

Currently The 25 caregivers own productive assets (200 chickens, 50 sheep’s, 30 goats, 15 cows) all valued at kshs 1.2m of which 35 OVC are benefiting and are currently attending school frequently and having basic needs courtesy of Fuguza Umaskinini initiative Â

They have progressed and expanded the business and initiated sorghum farming for the long rains. The SILC group have helped  the members  grow tremendously  in terms of business ,farm inputs ,owning  productive assets as they save ,borow loans to pay school fee the OVC.
